 Being a first time mother, I wanted to do what I felt the Lord led me to do. When I met Sorani, I knew right away the Lord wanted her as our midwife. It became clear why during the term of my pregnancy. Sorani had the sense of humor my husband and I needed while still remaining serious enough to take care of the business part. Our appointment quickly became like visits to an old friend.
During the labor is when Sorani shined the most. She was exactly "what the Doctor called for." She was able to help me remain relaxed yet focused. She helped me with breathing by doing it for me to hear so I could do it myself, even when I thought I couldn't. It was a wonderful birthing experience. Now I'm pregnant again and there is no doubt that I am having Sorani as my midwife.

 My husband and I were so pleased with our first birth at Family Birth Services with Sorani. This was my first pregnancy and I was unsure of what facility to use for midwifery care. I interviewed with Sorani and she genuinely took interest in my pregnancy and answered all of my "first-time mom" questions.
Over the 9 months of care, we developed a friendship that made my maternity visits a joy. She also encouraged/disciplined me in regards to my daily habits, all for the sake of the baby. We felt prepared for our home birth because of the amount of time and care given by Sorani.
During the birth, Sorani and her two assistant midwives took care of every need and helped me cope with every aspect of natural childbirth. After the birth, I felt well-cared for during the follow-up visits and the occasional phone calls to Sorani for assistance.
Overall, we were very pleased by the quality of service and level of personal care provided by Sorani and Family Birth Services. We thought so highly of the service that we are using Sorani for the birth of our second child in the upcoming months.

 Sorani came recommended to me by April Pierce, my first midwife. April had helped me through my first VBAC, but had moved and told me that Sorani was wonderful with VBACs. I couldn't agree more. :)
The first time I met Sorani, I liked her instantly. She greeted me warmly, like an old friend, and was very knowledgeable. I felt at ease with her, and started seeing her regularly for checkups.
In January, I started spotting a little. This scared me to death - I knew it had to be a miscarriage! - and I called Sorani. She was calm and reassuring, and told me I could come in for a sonogram if I wanted to make sure everything was okay. My husband took off work and we headed and we headed to the birth center, a hundred horrible scenarios running through our minds. But when Sorani started the sonogram, she discovered something we never imagined: Twins!
This was to be my second and third VBAC. I have no doubt that if I had gone to a doctor, it would have been an automatic c-section. But Sorani was confident that I could deliver them naturally, and she took good care of us. She had me eating a lot of protein to help the babies grow big, helped me bring my iron levels back up to normal when I became anemic, and watched the babies for any signs of trouble.
Everybody told me that, being pregnant with twins, I would deliver early. They also told me the babies would be tiny. But we proved them wrong. :) I went one day past my due date before I went into labor. Sorani came to my home, but I hardly noticed she was there. She would check me and the babies on a regular babies to make sure we were okay, but otherwise she quietly stood by and let me labor the way I needed to. The twins were born shortly thereafter, eight minutes apart. Jeremiah weighed 8 lbs 6 oz, and his twin sister weighed 8 lbs even! It was a wonderful, beautiful homebirth.
Sorani is competent and knowledgeable in the art of midwifery and being calm and gentle, has one of the most beautiful characters I have ever seen. I've enjoyed having her both as my midwife and my friend.

 When we were looking for a midwife for our firstborn, we decided that we wanted only the best and that we would base our decision on merit without regard to financial or other considerations. I was really hoping for an older midwife who had had children herself and I was referred to a number of midwives in the area who fit that criteria, but before we interviewed all of them we happened to interview Sorani.
Once we had met her, my husband and I both felt strongly that there was no need for further interviews because she was exactly what we were looking for. We were impressed by her calm, confident, professional demeanor and were certain that I would be able to relax well during the labor and delivery of our first child under her care.
At the birth of our daughter, Sorani was everything we had anticipated from our initial interview. The one thing I hadn't expected was the sense of loss after the baby was born and all our postpartum visits were over because of the feeling of friendship that had developed between us and Sorani during the course of my pregnancy.
I have had and made use of the opportunity to recommend Sorani to a friend (who happened to go on to use her services) and she was similarly pleased and impressed with Sorani's care and professionalism. As the opportunity arises, I am confident in recommending Sorani as a midwife and I look forward to using her services again myself as the Lord blesses.

 Hola, mi nombre es Maria y quiero contarles un poco sobre mi experiencia en Family Birth Services con la partera Sorani. Cuando fui por primera vez, solo queria pedir informacion de como era el cuidado del embarazo y el parto. Con toda la informacion y la confianza que nos hizo sentir Sorani a mi marido y a mi, no dudamos que mi embarazo y mi parto ha sido la experiencia mas bonita de nuestras vidas en este lugar.
Sinceramente recomiendo a Sorani - que ella esta muy bien preparada. Gracias Sorani, por todo el apoyo y la ayuda que me brindaste durante todo mi embarazo.  Antes que nada quiero darte las gracias a ti Sorani, por la confianza que me inspiro con toda la informacion que nos proporcionaste. De verdad yo aprecio mucho todas la sesiones que tuvimos contigo. El embarazo de mi esposa fue maravilloso. Fue todo lo contrario de lo que yo escuchaba de otras personas.
