My Dedication & Availability
I strive to give each of my clients a beautiful birth experience. I truly rely on the Lord to give me wisdom, grace, and strength as I serve each client. Once you start care with me, I will be on-call for you 24/7. I am available for appointments on Monday through Thursday and Saturday. I can also do evening appointments if that's most convenient for you. You can feel free to call me anytime with any questions or concerns. I am more than happy to answer your questions and offer advice and help. I enjoy educating my clients and offering love and support throughout their pregnancy, labor, birth and postpartum.
Complete Prenatal Care
The prenatal care, includes monthly visits until 28 weeks, bi-weekly visits until 36 weeks, and weekly visits until birth. If you're planning on a homebirth, I will do a visit in your home at 36 weeks. My services includes an initial lab-work (complete obstetric panel). I also offer informative childbirth classes where you'll learn more about labor, birth, and postpartum, watch educational videos and get to meet and interact with other couples that are using Family Birth Services' midwives. If you're interested in a sonogram, you can schedule one with one of our ultrasound technicians for a very reasonable price (not included in fee).
Preparation during Pregnancy
During each prenatal visit, I like to allow extra time in order to get to know you better. I take time to answer your questions, talk about your needs and expectations, and address any concerns. By developing a trust relationship with your midwife and preparing yourself physically, emotionally, and spiritually during your pregnancy - you can have a wonderful birth experience. It is team-work - everyone working together to help give you a special birth experience.
Labor and Birth
Once you think you're in labor, you can give me a call and we'll walk through that journey together. I will encourage you to eat and drink during labor which help your energy level. I will also encourage you to change positions and walk or try our birth ball. You can try our jacuzzi tub (if you're birthing at the birth center) and have candles and peaceful music in our tub room. I am trained in several different comfort measures to help you relax in labor. I can give you backrubs, apply hot compresses on your back, and help you as much as possible to relax. Your husband can be as involved as he wants or needs to be. I will reassure you that even though labor is work, it is worth it. The stronger your contractions are, the closer you are to seeing your sweet little baby. I consider each birth such a miracle of life.
Pospartum Care
After your birth, there will be 4 postpartum visits. I will come to your home for a 2-day check-up for you and your baby, and will also perform a newborn screen (PKU test). Then you will come to the birth center for a 2-week visit (includes a 2nd newborn screen), 6-week visit, and a 12-week visit which includes a pap-smear. I look forward to seeing you and your baby, visiting, and taking pictures of your sweet baby. It is such a blessing to see my clients after the birth and to witness their little one growing.
Fees
I offer a cash discount for my uninsured clients. Please call me and we can discuss options and discounts. At your initial visit, you will bring a $400 deposit and we will work out a payment plan. There is a further discount if you pay your fee up front within the first 30 days.
